From Driving a Bus to Driving Sales at Cafe2U Solihull

Lee Malin had worked in a few sectors before joining Cafe2U – he was a butcher, a postman, and a coach & bus driver. Funny enough, it was on the back of a bus where Lee’s wife Alison saw an advert for the NEC National Franchise Exhibition, which Lee and Alison attended in October 2014 and where they first learnt about the Cafe2U franchise.

Lee said: “After meeting the staff at the Cafe2U stand, it gave me confidence knowing there was a good support team if I needed it. This being my first venture working for myself, I thought I would be more confident having support from the team if things didn’t go as well as I hoped, or when I needed guidance on something.”

Lee’s main motivation for buying the franchise was the fact that after years of being employed by someone he came to a conclusion that if he was going to work hard for somebody, it may as well be himself, where the rewards of his hard work would benefit him and his family as opposed to an employer.

Hence it took Lee just 2 weeks to decide to buy a Cafe2U franchise – having attended the Franchise Show in October 2014, he was serving great coffee to the people of Solihull at the start of January 2015!

What Lee enjoys most about being a Cafe2U franchisee is the flexibility of the working hours and the ability to fit his family commitments around that – Lee has a son and a daughter and cooks dinner for the whole family after he’s finished his daily round and picked the children up from school.

Lee’s customers are certainly enjoying the service Lee provides and the quality of his coffee – here are just some of their comments: “This is the best cup of coffee I’ve ever had!”; “We’re so glad you called in and offered us the chance to be on your round as we really can’t imagine what we’d do without you!”

Lee is thinking about purchasing another Cafe2U territory “sooner rather than later” and beginning to do shows and events whenever possible.

His advice to anyone looking to purchase a Cafe2U franchise is: “Do as much research on your territory as possible and be prepared to work hard, be very tired, but thoroughly happy and content with the decision you’ve made in buying your franchise.”
