Why did you go into franchising?

I knew I wanted my own business but having worked for big organisations I enjoy working in a team and being a part of wider group. So franchising was the logical answer.
 

Why choose CD?

I came across The Christmas Decorators on the BFA website. It was a low cost start up, used my skills of organisation and planning, it gives a good work-life balance but most importantly I love Christmas!
 

What are the positives with CD

• The Christmas Decorators Head Office is run by operators, they know the business inside out and have carried out every part of the job. There is not a question they can’t answer about Christmas and if you do what they have done you will succeed.
• The other franchisees all support and help each other, I can honestly say I have made friends for life.
   

How long have you been operating with CD and what did you do previously?

I am a new franchisee with 2014 being my first Christmas, which was a fantastic experience. Before this I have always worked in catering and events as an Operations Manager.
 

How have you found training and support?

I really enjoyed the training particularly the practical work decorating trees and putting up the external decorations, it was surprising to learn, with practise, how straight forward it is to produce a stunning display.

Sarah sources the most amazing products for us to use, keeping up to date with the latest decorating trends. The training is ongoing with new ideas and products each year so we always stay ahead of the competition.

Someone is always on the end of a phone and we had Alan one of the Liverpool installers help us on our first job which was invaluable.

What are you looking forward to as your business grows?

As my business grows and as I increase my knowledge of design and installation I look forward to working on bigger jobs such as shopping centres.

Being part of The Christmas Decorators has made me realise the decorations in my city haven’t been great over the years so looking forward to putting that right and becoming an essential service at Christmas.

How has being a franchisee changed your life?

I am obsessed with Christmas!! I can’t tell you how much I have enjoyed my first year, it is a great feeling to decorate someone’s house and to see that instant reaction of delight from a client.

I really feel part of a great company but also feel in charge of my own destiny, the harder you work the greater the reward.

What are your plans for the future?
