With Wig Wednesday less than a month away, the staff and dogs at Suffolk Canine Creche are getting ready to don their hair-raising creations in a special Wig Week in support of CLIC Sargent’s Wig Wednesday campaign.

Beginning on May 23, every dog and member of staff at the crèche throughout the week will be photographed showcasing a funky new hairstyle.

Owner of Suffolk Canine Creche Candace Rose, whose business now boasts more than 400 dogs per week, said: “If every dog coming to crèche for that week donated just one pound, we would already be at £400. This amount could pay for a family to stay in a CLIC Sargent Home from Home for almost two weeks where families can be close to their child at hospital. So every penny really does count!”

Suffolk Canine Creche recently launched their in-house dog grooming parlour, so the staff will be on-hand to style and trim the wigs to the dogs’ specifications.

Candace and her team are now encouraging other local businesses and people to get involved in the fun of Wig Wednesday to support children and young people with cancer.

Candace said: “Many children will have to wear a wig during their treatment, and what better way to raise money and show empathy for them than for us all to “Get Wiggy With It.””
