When Alistair Parker decided to spruce up his caravan park in Swansea, he turned to FASTSIGNS® to transform his function room.

The venue was tidy and traditional with a stage and a wooden floor, but it needed a touch of glamour.  Then along came FASTSIGNS from Minster Court, Valley Way, Swansea, to design and install a chequered floor in glorious technicolour, and a psychedelic curtain to cover the stage, which transformed the room into an instant party venue. 

Visitors to the Riverside Caravan Park in Swansea won’t have seen anything like it when the park opens this month (March) for up to 4,000 people per week.

Simon Rees, owner of FASTSIGNS Swansea, thinks the flooring is unique. “We’ve never seen anything like it. The vinyl is usually used in supermarkets. I reckon we’re the first to put such a bold design on it and use it as a dance floor. The material is tough enough for shoppers and supermarket trolleys 24-hours a day, so it should be fine for a little dance, or a bingo night.” 

Park owner Alistair Parker loves the new look. “I’m over the moon. It’s going to be a nice surprise for our regulars and a great attraction to newcomers,” he said. “Fastsigns have been great – they’ve got a great attitude.” 

The stage curtain and dance floor are both printed on large wide-format digital printers. The floor took FASTSIGNS 28 hours to print onto non-slip vinyl, and needed two people to install. The curtain is printed on heavy-knit polyester. 

How did FASTSIGNS come up with the idea? “We sat down and talked about what Alistair wanted. Originally he just wanted a backdrop for the stage. Then we thought of transforming the whole room with a floor to match, spoke to the designer, gave it a few tweaks, and that was it. 

“We turned it into a glitzy, glamorous place for caravan people who like to enjoy themselves. It’s amazing what you can do with digital signs. We’ve transformed a huge, old-fashioned room into an all-singing, all-dancing party place without moving a brick or a lifting a floorboard.”
