Globe trotting charitable surveyor focuses on reducing stress locally

Patrick will be operating Aspray South East Ireland – part of a national insurance claims management and property repair network whose service many in Ireland and the UK found invaluable last winter when burst pipes threatened to wreck their Christmas and New Year.

In 2009 Laois man Patrick McDonald, a qualified Quantity Surveyor, went to Lima in Peruto help look after disadvantaged children with various physical disabilities – a life changing experience that put everything into perspective according to Patrick. This August he starts looking after people with problems of a different nature at home in Ireland – those who have experienced damage to their property.

Patrick travelled for almost 2 years and lived and worked in Australia, South East Asia and South America but his plans to marry his globe trotting partner Aisling this July, brought him home. Returning to a country in recession meant careful consideration of what was available that would complement his skills and personality. A chance comment from an insurance broker friend, about the benefit their customers found in using insurance claims managers who could also manage their repairs, launched Patrick into looking at what was available in his area.

Patrick said: “In the last number of years Ireland has seen extreme weather – from floods to drought and snow to wind – often causing serious damage to properties and leaving hundreds of people unable to live in their homes or run their businesses. The winter of 2010 was our harshest winter in the northern hemisphere for some years and I saw first hand just how devastated people’s lives were when their personal property was damaged – it’s not only third world countries where people suffer and if I can offer a professional service that makes a difference for people in times of distress I feel it’s a job well done”.

Patrick will be servicing the counties of Waterford, Tipperary, Kilkenny, Wexford, Carlow, Laois and Offaly offering commercial and residential property owners facing property disasters a one-stop-shop service that manages insurance claims and carries out any resulting property repair work.
