Jules, our franchise owner working in Milton Keynes, very much sees Photography for Little People as a franchise business where she can combine her passion of working with newborns, children and families with being able to capture wonderful moments of those first precious days in print and impressions.

We caught up with Jules and asked her a few questions about her time with PLP and about her opportunities ahead.

Tell us a little about yourself and how you discovered PLP?

I currently work part time in the public health arena with women and their babies. This is a rewarding job but also very emotionally draining. Having had a health scare a couple of years ago, I decided that I needed to do something that was less demanding and reduced my working hours. I then started to look to fill my time. I have always loved photography and had completed a couple of years at college using a manual SLR camera.

A colleague who I had trained to be a nurse with had begun her own business in child development, so I contacted her and she gave me information about franchises. This was when I started to look at franchises and found PLP which immediately interested me.

What is the PLP franchise like to work with ?

The model for your business is in place and there is lots of advice and support available to help. Your main marketing page Facebook and the PLP webpage are managed by PLP franchise and once you are comfortable with Facebook it is then handed to you to manage and promote yourself locally. Business training continues with support from head Office and mentoring. Once this is complete, you have a mentor assigned to you who helps with business queries, have practical advice to help with marketing and also offer advice on managing clients, photoshoots and to review images and support with photography.

Are you looking forward to your challenge ahead ?

I am very much looking forward to having more time to create more business opportunities and to have time to market. Just months into my business I am able to reduce my job to allow me to work more on my business.

What would you say if someone wanted to start a photography business in their area?

Do it! Its great fun! I’m not going to lie, its hard work and shoots initially were stressful, but that is all about learning your new role as a professional photographer! You won’t regret it!
