Mark explains below what a typical day in his life looks like: “I don’t like the perception of an Account Manager where as soon as the Client signs up and pays the invoice, they don’t hear from me until the next invoice is due. I am genuinely interested in my Clients business and like to understand which direction they’re heading in and if there is anything more we can do to help them achieve their goals. The only way to do this is by keeping up a consistent communication level with them and offering solutions to any issues or problems they might have. We have such a vast skillset with SmartPA, and I am yet to find a need for a Client that I am unable to cater for within the organisation, all I ask for is the opportunity to provide them a different option to traditional hire.

“Most of the SmartPA’s I work with know that I am fairly ‘hands on’ and I like to get to know them on a personal level as well as a professional level. We have so many wonderful people within the organisation with bags of experience, so I look to learn from them when possible, with the understanding that if I can help them in any way, they just need to ask. This can be from understanding how to in-source, any networking tips or advice on how to close a deal.”

“I will typically call the SmartPA’s I work with once or twice in a week, just to see how they are feeling about the work, if they have any concerns that we can proactively manage, or if they believe there is room to grow the client.

“Networking is obviously key to finding new clients and personally, I think its far more worthwhile networking a lot with a small amount of groups, than network a little with a large amount of groups. Once you get a lead from any networking group, it’s imperative that you work that lead as soon as possible and update the person who provided you the lead with updates. If they know you are doing a good job, they are more likely to send you more business.”

As an Account Manager, I find the guidance and assistance that head office provide is priceless. I really appreciate the fact that the company is always looking to right any wrongs and make it a better working environment for all.”
