FUTURE 50 company (delivered by Nwes and Archant) Suffolk Canine Creche, has continued to impress, after winning the EAST OF ENGLAND Regional Small Business Employer of the Year at the National Apprenticeship Awards. The announcement was made on Tuesday evening at Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London – they had become a NATIONWIDE TOP 100 EMPLOYER, whom were chosen from all the regional entries.

SCC were selected as a Top 100 list of businesses working with apprentices, a highly honoured accolade, against fierce competition and some large companies, Candace Rose MD said It was testimony to the hard work and dedication we have to our apprentice program, we are thrilled to be recognised alongside some national companies, thereby proving that all SME’s can also benefit from the skilled employees that apprenticeships provide.

Skills Minister Nick Boles said: “Congratulations to each and every one of the National Apprenticeship Award winners. Apprenticeships truly are set to be one of the great success stories of the decade, and tonight’s winners and finalists are worthy ambassadors.”

We are committed to 3 million apprenticeships by 2020 so that even more businesses and young people can reap the benefits of apprenticeships.

SCC employ five apprentices who are completing Level 2 & 3 qualifications, and previous apprentices are all still with SCC and been key to developing the business. They are all in employment with the crèche and are developing their career paths.

Candace Rose, MD and owner, expressed that the business model is unique in the UK and therefore it is important to cultivate the business and develop animal handling skills, as well providing the industry with future up-skilled employees. She has a policy to only take an apprentice that will have a full-time job at the end of the programme.

SCC have now provided a number of new jobs to the area in canine care and continues to grow its customer reach. Last week alone the crèche cared for over 400 dogs.
