ENTHUSIASM AND CREATIVITY

You don’t need a background in professional photography to become a franchisee. When you get started you’ll be surprised how quickly your enthusiasm and creativity will shine through when creating that special moment for others.

Photography for Little People is now in its 12th year of trading. The company was started in 2005 by mother and daughter, Jan Massey and Melanie Armstrong. After establishing “a beautiful business”, a franchise system was developed and proven. In 2008 the franchise was launched. Photography for Little People has a way of working that’s flexible for its franchisees, while at the same time offering clients a memorable experience, providing them with stunning images and impressions of their little ones’ hands and feet – capturing special moments forever.

All products are manufactured by Photography for Little People, who use only the highest quality materials available. A full range of frames, canvas and impression pieces, combined with images, are available. The company is experienced in teaching photography and impression taking, as well as setting up new franchisees and helping them build strong, profitable businesses on firm foundations.

BUSINESS BENEFITS

You can run the franchise from home while benefiting from the support of a head office team and dedicated point of contact. The franchise package includes all equipment and ongoing training. Other benefits include low start-up costs and overheads, a good work-life balance and the opportunity to fit the business around other commitments if necessary. While you don’t have to be a great photographer to be a successful franchisee, you will need desire, creativity and enjoy working with children of all ages.

FRANCHISE PACKAGE

Aimed at entrepreneurs with a creative eye and passion for photography and customer satisfaction, the franchise package includes start-up equipment valued at over £5,000 (including camera and lighting), all initial and ongoing training, an operations manual, business stationery, marketing materials, samples, ongoing training and workshops, plus telephone support, one-to-one mentoring sessions and head office assistance. A large and exclusive trading territory is also part of the package.

Initial training is held in the north east of England over a five-day period and covers photography, impressions and setting up the business. Training is fun and practical and from day one you’ll be working with families and young babies. Your own web page, which will showcase your gallery, will be updated as your business develops.

FRANCHISEE SUCCESS

Based in Reading, Sue Wills says she’s found her perfect profession with a Photography for Little People franchise. Sue adds: “From the minute my decision was made, the support has been incredible. Melanie’s expertise in photographing little people is second to none. I learnt so much from working with her and watching her in action that she has given me confidence in my own ability to produce beautiful pieces of work in a safe, comfortable environment. “I was excited to drive home with all my new equipment and ready to get started with my own business. Photography for Little People is a family owned business and the support from the entire team is always available and aimed at my business success.”

Finding the Photography for Little People franchise came at just the right time for Harlow/Cambridge franchisee Bridget Mitchelmore. “I was looking for something I could fit in around my family and other commitments, but was already tried and tested, so I didn’t have to start from scratch,” she explains. “The training is excellent, covers all areas of practical photography skills, including the safety aspects of newborn photography, as well as business management. “The branding, website and marketing materials are all included, giving you a fantastic platform to build on. Added to which you have the support of all the other franchisees, who help when needed. And the best bit is I get to spend time with new babies and their families.”

According to Derbyshire franchisee Thomas Moran, training is both handson and theoretical. “Melanie ensures you understand the ‘why’ and ‘how’ of the various styles and basics of photography that typifies Photography for Little People and makes its products stand out from the rest,” he says. “She allows you to follow your own creative ideas, but will gently steer you towards a more effective way if necessary. She’s always there, but does take a back seat at relevant times to allow your confidence to grow. “As with any training, if you come through it confident and having enjoyed it the trainer has done their job. Melanie did that in a personal and professional way.”
