Give a warm welcome to one of SmartPA’s newest partners – Helen Green! We sat down with Helen to find out a bit more about her and why she chose SmartPA. Here’s what she said…

Welcome to the team! Tell us a bit about yourself?

I live in Harlow, Essex and I have three children. I am really close to my extended family – most of whom live nearby. I enjoy living close to London and go to the theatre, exhibitions and events as often as I can.

I also enjoy a nice glass of wine, especially with company and good food, or a good book. I recently lost a close friend to cancer – it has really made me aware of how lucky I am to be here and be able to appreciate all the good things I have in my life.

Why did you decide to go into business?
I have always wanted to have my own business (at least since my twenties) but life doesn’t always work out the way you think and for lots of reasons I always put it off. It was after losing my friend that I decided to finally take the steps I needed to go into business.

What does becoming a SmartPA partner mean to you?
It means an awful lot to me. I had done my research, I was well aware of the many pitfalls of being in business, but from my first contact with SmartPA I felt comfortable and reassured that I would be joining a professional organisation with high standards and attention to detail.

It is an opportunity for me that I fully intend to take advantage of and build a business that works for me on all levels. It will also enable me to have the fulfilling life/ work balance that I have always wanted.

As a SmartPA partner, what are you most looking forward to?
I am most looking forward to getting started! Meeting new people, building new working relationships, seeing my business grow and take shape.

Who is your hero?
Any and every woman that has fought against all the odds to pursue her dream.

What advice would you give you other women considering going into business?
Be thorough in your research. Be realistic about your expectations. Get advice. Most of all believe in yourself.
