A former referee turned owner of a football leagues franchise in Weston Super Mare was scoring big himself this week as he received a £500 cash windfall in recognition of the way his business has grown.

Andy Smith, who lives in the town and used to ref in the league, before taking on Leisure Leagues Franchise at the end of last year. He has been rewarded with a £500 bonus after he started a new league on a Monday evening at Worle Community School to go along with his already massively popular competitions on Sunday and Thursday.

Each Leisure Leagues franchisee receives a cash bonus of up to £1000 when they start a brand new league and the Weston whistle blower is the latest to benefit.

The new Monday night league has seen hundreds of extra players involved and Andy said: “When I started the Monday league it began with four teams, and has steadily grown and we are looking at extending it still further for the season that is upcoming.”
