“I have been the Principal of Razzamataz Dumfries for four years although I have been aware of the business for a while because my youngest daughter Charlotte is also a franchise owner of Razzamataz in Penrith and Whitehaven. After Charlotte became involved with Razzamataz I worked at Head Office for a year. I really liked the idea of becoming a Principal but did not think I would be suitable because I don’t have a Performing Arts background.

“I’ve worked in hairdressing for ten years so this is really a different career move for me and it is wonderful that even as a grandmother to 4 children between the ages of 4 and 9, I can still find a career that is really enjoyable and fulfilling. Although performing or running my own business is not my background, all franchisees go through a really thorough training programme and we get continual support and advice as well as sharing tips with other Principals, which is really beneficial.

“The great thing about owning a Razzamataz franchise is that no two days are the same. I really enjoy working with children and watching them grow in confidence and it has also been wonderful for my own confidence. Not many women at 60 run their own business and working with young people has also kept me thinking and feeling young too.”
