“We set out to find a business that would suit our lifestyle and give us a good income.”

Alan Duggan is less than six months into his Snack-in-the-Box franchise covering the Blackburn, Preston and Burnley area and is already making a great impression.

After ten years of running a successful Bargain Booze store, Alan and his wife Tracey were tired of the early starts, long days and management of 13 staff members, so they made the decision to sell.

“We set out to find another business that would suit both our lifestyle and give us a good income,” Alan says. “We were also keen to get involved with another established franchise.”

Alan and Tracey are fitting perfectly into the franchisee family, growing their business steadily with more and more satisfied customers. The Snack-in-the-Box franchise certainly seems to be suiting them down to the ground.

“We have been operating for about four months now and are certain we’ve made the right choice. We are working Monday to Friday with no staff to worry about, no long days, and Tracey can work at home preparing the boxes for me to take out.

The franchise fits very well so far into our current lifestyle, with my working day generally starting at 7:30 a.m., getting onto the roads visiting customers and finishing between 3 and 5 p.m. I am working Monday to Friday at the moment with good intention to make this a four day week, leaving Fridays free.”

Alan’s advice to anybody looking to purchase a franchise would be to do your homework. Look at what you want out of it both financially and lifestyle wise and do your due diligence on the franchise company and the business.

Now that they are settled into their Snack-in-the-Box franchise, Alan says that he and Tracey are making the most of having their weekends off, taking their dogs for long walks in the Lake District and finally finding the time to play some golf.
