When Keith joined the Hometyre network back in 2009, it was following a successful career spanning 39 years at Cambridge University Press.

Too young to retire and with too much ambition still to fulfil, his aspiration was to see if he could actually grow and sustain a business that was all about him and what he could offer. Without any prior experience whatsoever in terms of marketing or mechanical repairs to vehicles, it was certainly a brave step to get involved after such a long period in the same employment position but, with following and careful long period of deliberation he eventually signed on the dotted line with Hometyre.

Keith undertook training with an open mind and a smile. He’s that type of character that you’d swear you’ve met before. His very relaxed and friendly demeanour instantly puts clients in an equal mindset to create an enjoyable experience for both – whatever the time of day, temperature or weather.

At his 5th year anniversary Keith had no hesitation whatsoever in committing to another contract with a view to preparing for both his retirement and to selling his business on at the 10th anniversary. With 9 years under his belt and a business that operates daily at the pace he now prefers, Keith has now found the perfect buyer for his business whom he knows will continue to look after his existing customer base, and continue to grow it at a quicker rate than he has been able to do over the last couple of years.

Keith commented recently: “I’ve no regrets whatsoever in joining Hometyre – even during a few really tough recessional years. I set out to grow a business around me and I achieved exactly that. For me I was never looking to become a multi-van businessman, I just wanted to prove to myself that I could do it – even at my old age!! The guys have all been supportive and helpful throughout and I’ve never had a question or query go unanswered and always promptly. Customers love the service. I’ve countless people now who I’ve returned to countless times over many years. I think I’ve even become part of the family for some!”

Having enjoyed nearly ten years at this, I’m ready to hang up my tyre levers and hand over to younger talent! I’ve got the price I’d hoped for and they’ve got a cracking business to take over from me in July.”
