NHS professionals seize Kare Plus opportunity

“We were certain from the outset that franchising was the best option,” he says. “We wanted to be associated with a well-established name that was already known and respected in the health care sector, and benefit from the expertise, support and direction of an experienced franchisor, all of which led us to Kare Plus.”

After spending six years as a financial professional in the National Health Service, Golam Wayes had gained a unique perspective on the emerging opportunity created by the changing landscape of healthcare provision. He became convinced of the real potential to build a profitable business delivering high quality independent care services. So, along with two other friends – an IT specialist who also worked for the NHS and a third partner from the private sector – Golam began to research potential opportunities.

“We were certain from the outset that franchising was the best option,” he says. “We wanted to be associated with a well-established name that was already known and respected in the health care sector, and benefit from the expertise, support and direction of an experienced franchisor, all of which led us to Kare Plus.”

Kare Plus is one of the UK’s leading care franchises, with an established track record in providing not just domiciliary care solutions, but also nurses and other specialist staff to hospitals, care homes and to people in their own homes. National accounts that directly benefit franchisees include some of the UK’s major private care groups such as Dimensions, Four Seasons, BUPA and Care UK; Kare Plus has also secured new contracts with various local authorities and is currently tendering for lucrative NHS accounts across the UK.

“We first met with the Kare Plus team at a franchise exhibition,” Golam explains. “Subsequently, we arranged to visit the company Head Quarters in the West Midlands to find out more. Those meetings, together with further research, including a meeting with our bank and one-to-one discussions with existing Kare Plus franchisees, confirmed to us that Kare Plus was the right choice. In fact, we didn’t pursue any other opportunities, simply because we felt that Kare Plus offered a terrific value for money franchise!”

Golam and his partners launched Kare Plus Redbridge in November last year and already the business has taken off. Their customer base on the care and nursing homes side is building steadily, and, keen not to let the grass grow, Golan and business partner Fahreen Abdullah are planning to branch out. They have received further training from Kare Plus to equip them for providing services to the NHS and they are scheduled to be trained to deliver domiciliary care too, enabling them to benefit from three separate income streams.

“Kare Plus has provided excellent support for us, they even introduced us to our first big client – BUPA,” Golam concludes. “Launching a new business has been really intense, it’s a great responsibility, but Kare Plus has been there to offer a guiding hand or practical assistance whenever we’ve needed it. Having a Clinical Lead as well as business development experience has been invaluable to us and really sets Kare Plus apart from other franchises,” Golam concludes. “Building a business like this would certainly have been impossible to achieve on our own. Investing in a Kare Plus franchise was certainly the right decision for us and we’re looking forward to exciting times ahead!”

Kare Plus is one of the fastest growing franchises in the care sector, precisely because it offers a breadth of different services, says Steve Welsh. “There is absolutely no requirement for previous experience in the care or health sector, but having said that, we are certainly attracting a lot of interest from those working in the NHS. Not only is this a welcome endorsement from healthcare professionals who believe in our brand and service quality, but it also reflects a recognition on the part of people operating in the sector that delivery of healthcare services is changing. Recent legislation, an over-stretched NHS and an ageing population are all factors driving demand for high quality healthcare services. For ambitious, business minded people prepared to work hard, Kare Plus offers a long-term, sustainable and highly profitable business opportunity.”
