Sandra, what is your background?

I’ve been a retail manager, a merchandiser, a party planner, a travelling salesperson and a press officer amongst others. The common theme being a need to be able to be in control of my own time management. I hate jobs where all you have to do is turn up and you get paid, even if your time is not productive. It’s mind numbing.

What lead you to franchising?

I chose franchising because I wanted to be my own boss, set my own targets and manage my own time, to allow a quality of life with my family…. I also found that most employment requires a level of technology now which surpasses my skills. I have zero interest in learning, so wanted a simple job that can be done with a paper and pen if necessary.

Why did you choose With Thanks?

I chose With Thanks because of the charity element and because the outlay was small and the earning potential immediate.

How relevant was the training?

I am sure the training for people without previous sales experience would be useful. The need to keep up siting days after the initial launch is perhaps under stated.

How was the launch?

I can’t comment, as I never had an initial launch. I took over an existing working area after the previous franchisee left.

How do you find the back up and support from the franchise team?

I have found the staff support to be very helpful.

Where are you in terms of box numbers?

I have initiated a monthly siting day with a nearby franchisee, which has proved successful, as it’s more fun to do in twos. This allows us to replace any boxes we have removed that month due to poor performance. The potential to build up the area by adding more service runs is considerable.

What are your plans from here?

To keep my runs efficient and professional. To make the most of the 3 days a week I choose to work and to save some money for an enjoyable retirement!
