Buying an established Seniors Helping Seniors Care Agency Franchise

Seniors Helping Seniors Care Agency share insights ahead of the International Franchise Show.

Tim and Jenny Heaney bought the Guildford, Godalming and Woking franchise of Seniors Helping Seniors in February 2022 and Tim will be at the International Franchise Show in Excel to share his experience with anyone considering the brand. Tim was working with Seniors Helping Seniors as a carer when, as the saying goes, he ‘loved the services so much, he bought the company!’

Tim’s journey into Care, was via an exciting career in retail, working internationally with luxury brands. It’s not unusual for Seniors Helping Seniors to attract very successful people and Tim’s journey followed a period of family caregiving. He joined the Seniors Helping Seniors and Home Instead care teams in Guildford, gaining a deep understanding of the needs of the elderly in their own home.

Tim recognised the client-first approach of high-end retail in Seniors Helping Seniors and said “The approach Seniors Helping Seniors has to both carers and the service it offers to clients, stood head and shoulders above anything else I have ever seen.”

The seller of the franchise, Andy Boothman , explains how Seniors Helping Seniors is the second franchise he has owned and sold at this stage. Taking Guildford from opening to a healthy profit Andy says “I was considering the next chapter after four years, when one of the outstanding carers on my team showed interest in the business. It’s an incredible accolade for me and the brand that a carer who worked with us, wanted to invest. Tim obviously knows the operation inside out and the care team and clients are delighted with the news.”

The franchise sales process started with meeting master franchise owners in the UK, Christian and Sally Wilse. Tim says “the team is amazing, and I was inspired by the growth potential. I have an opportunity to pool all my professional experiences, work for my own success doing something immensely worthwhile within an ambitious and fun team. The training was five star and I know which levers to pull to take the business where I want to take it. I am already seeing the results.”

Christian WIlse says, “We’re grateful for the job Andy did for the brand and delighted to welcome Tim and Jenny. Tim comes on board just as our CQC registration provides new options for our franchisees. None of our businesses are obliged to provide regulated care services because the brand specialises in companionship care but we’re excited to see who follows the lead into personal care services!”

The organisation works incredibly hard to ensure carers love the work, so it was no surprise when Seniors Helping Seniors won the Living Wage Foundation’s Champion award for the Care Sector in 2021. Tim explains, “As a working carer, I felt the importance of that award.”

Peer-to-peer assistance allows seniors in need to receive care from someone who they can trust and relate to. And older workers have uniquely appealing and fulfilling local job opportunities. Seniors Helping Seniors developed their care roles to suit experienced carers over twenty years ago. Care is un-hurried and flexible.

Disrupting the sector by driving new standards for carers and clients alike is viable because the company is privately owned and does not have investors baying for their profit share. Families need to budget for long term support because the population is ageing and the Seniors Helping Seniors approach is exemplified in the Good Business Charter, S.A.F.E. care kite marks as well as outstanding reviews from customers.
