The staff of Farnham based leading greeting card publisher and franchisor, Card Connection have tackled the GRIM Challenge for the second year in a row, again raising over £600 for Macmillan Cancer Support. Four of Card Connection’s head office team set off with 2,600 other ‘nutters’ to run through mud, over tyres, logs and hills to complete the eight mile ‘extreme mud run’ known as the GRIM Challenge held in Aldershot last week.

“We have recently rebranded and our new corporate tag line is ‘we make a difference’ and so it seemed fitting that the team got together to complete this tough challenge which we hope will make a difference for Macmillan Cancer Support,” explains runner and managing director of Card Connection, Michael Johnson. “As a company we support various charities throughout the year but the GRIM Challenge certainly the fund raiser that requires the most commitment!”

Business development manager Andy Bull, senior creative manager Kelly Courtenay, studio supervisor Cara Moore and managing director Michael Johnson negotiated mud, obstacles and ran, waded, swam and crawled through icy water to complete the GRIM Challenge which has been described as: the ‘filthiest thing you’ll ever do’. In 2012, 6,500 people completed the GRIM challenge, many running for charities, at various locations throughout the UK. “The Aldershot challenge is held on the Army’s vehicle testing tracks so threw up some real challenges including numerous water obstacles and a very smelly bog!” explains Johnson. “However, we did it, survived it and even enjoyed it!”

Card Connection is one of the UK’s largest card publishers and is the market leader in the franchised distribution of greeting cards. The business’ unique model of consignment sales has resulted in a strong brand and established reputation which has been proven over many years and this year Card Connection celebrates its 21st year in operation as a franchisor. Through its franchisees Card Connection supplies about 12,000 retailers throughout the UK.

Card Connection is part of UK Greetings, which is a subsidiary of American Greetings Inc., one of the largest greeting card publishers in the world and has limited vacancies for franchisees that are keen to run an expanding business.
