On the agenda was a keynote speech marking the network’s success and growth over the last two years, a workshop on preparing for the upcoming social care reforms, an inaugural awards ceremony, and a surprise visit and talk by British Olympic legend Eddie the Eagle.

There were five hotly contested award categories, and the overall winners were:

  • Care Team of the Year – Good Oaks Mid Sussex
  • Registered Manager of the Year – Gill Sutton (Good Oaks New Forest)
  • Sustainability Award – Elena Mlajiceanu (Good Oaks Mid Sussex)
  • Pinnacle Award – Good Oaks Reading and Newbury
  • Rising Star Award – Good Oaks Aylesbury

The event was organised in a covid secure manner, and saw delegates from Mid Sussex to Derby come together for the first time in two years.

Ben Ashton, co-founder of Good Oaks, said: “Every single office is bigger and busier than we were before the pandemic, and that is a testament to the essential, valued work we do every day.”

“It was an honour to spend the day with our franchise partners, discussing plans for the future, celebrating success, and enjoying reconnecting and networking with everybody after what has been a challenging period.”
When asked what advice Eddie the Eagle would give others starting a business, Eddie said: “Never give up. If you have a goal, a dream and ambition, hold on to that and never give up. You might get part of the way there, you might get halfway there, you might get the whole way, who knows!”
