Hoodies for local ice-hockey players, fencers, long jumpers, golfers……

promising long jumper. Jamie was ranked number one at the end of last season for under 20’s.  Francine Robb, a fencer, is another Coventry based bursary recipient.  Francine first tried fencing at an after-school club and has represented West Midlands and Warwickshire at both sabre and foil.

Recognition Express Coventry is becoming a big supporter of sports in the area and was main sponsor of the CSWP Sports Scholarship Awards in 2008. Owner of the business Alex Newman, attended a special event held at St Mary’s Guildhall in Coventry on 30 June where the bursaries were awarded.  He said: “It’s great to see so many aspiring athletes and very rewarding to be able to make a contribution to the development of this talent.”

Recent Beijing Olympian and Great Britain Hockey Player Rachel Walker, was a special guest at the event, where she presented the athletes with their awards.  The Coventry Lord Mayor Cllr Jack Harrison was also present to congratulate the young sports men and women on their success.
