Jackson Fire & Security makes impressive start to new housing trust contract

One of Merseyside’s leading housing associations has been impressed by the quality of work provided by Jackson Fire & Security since we took on its security and fire alarm servicing contract.

Maintenance Worker

We won the tender to provide ongoing security and fire alarm maintenance of the Knowsley Housing Trust’s portfolio of properties in April 2015. The housing association manages sites in Kirkby, Halewood, Prescot and Huyton, providing homes for around 25,000 people.

Jackson Fire & Security is responsible for the ongoing maintenance of fire and security systems at more than 30 properties for the housing association, which manages a portfolio of close to 14,000 homes in the Knowsley area. The contract includes a variety of different properties for the trust, including Knowsley Housing Trust’s head office in Prescot, community centres, and social housing consisting of low and high-rise tower blocks.

The contract covers a full range of services including the maintenance of fire extinguishers, emergency lights, smoke ventilation, gas detection and the essential fire and security alarm systems. As part of the contract we also provide monitoring on the gas, fire and security alarm systems which is critical to the 24/7 call out service we provide as part of the contact.

Fire and security engineer Stuart Parry said: “Knowsley Housing Trust is a great client to work with. Its systems are up to date, and any issues we do encounter are generally straightforward to solve. Some of the housing trust’s systems are quite large and complicated, in particular in their tower blocks, which provides a good challenge for us when it comes to maintenance.”

Knowsley Housing Trust will open three new sheltered housing developments in the Prescott area in early 2016, which will be added to our portfolio of properties managed on behalf of the housing association.

Adrian Smith, Knowsley Housing Trust’s interim asset manager, commented: “We’ve been working with Jackson Fire & Security for some time now. I’ve been impressed with the quality of their work and attention to detail, and their willingness to work with KNowsley Housing Trust to identify improvements to the service. They manage fire and security systems at 30 to 35 properties, including large apartment blocks, sheltered housing and Lakeview, our main office. One of the key things we were looking for in a supplier was the ability to present a good image to our tenants.”
