Recognition Express first joined forces with national road safety charity, Brake, in 2009 with a competition designed to engage children about staying safe around roads and traffic. The themes of this year’s competition are ‘Kids Say Slow Down’ and ‘20’s Plenty’ and Recognition Express is asking primary school children across the UK to submit their ideas for a Road Safety Banner to display outside their school to help get the message across to road users. The competition this year will be open to children aged 4-11 and there will be 12 regional prize winners, each of whom will receive a full-size printed version of their banner and 300 high-vis drawstring bags for their school, and a ‘golden star’ award for themselves..

Every school that takes part will receive 200 ‘Star Writer’ pencils plus automatic affiliate annual membership to Brake.

This year competition details are being sent via email direct to schools in the first week of September,

The closing date for entries is Friday 21 October. Said Nigel Toplis, Managing Director, Recognition Express: “This is such an important issue and each year we are amazed by the amount of thought and effort the children put in to their designs. We are delighted to be able to support Brake, which does such a huge amount of excellent work in raising awareness about road safety issues and provides support to people who have been affected by road crashes.”

Added Katie Shephard, Director of Fundraising, Brake: “Brake is delighted that Recognition Express are running this competition to raise awareness about road safety. Road crashes devastate families across the UK every day and it’s vital we educate children so help keep them safe on the road.”
