The Llanelli Sea Cadets will be organising a charity duck race on 30 August in cooperation with FASTSIGNS Swansea.

Llanelli Sea Cadets in association with FASTSIGNS® Swansea are planning a duck race on 30 August 2009 and they’ll be selling ducks for charity around town in the weeks before.   

Petty Officer Paul Jenkins, Chairman of the Duck Race Committee said, “We are really excited to be organising such a unique and fun event. There is so much going on I am sure there is something for everyone! We are raising funds for equipment within the Sea Cadets in Llanelli, and are also helping other well deserving charities raise funds. We are aiming to raise in excess of £6000, a record for any of our fundraising efforts. The river is going to be yellow with all the ducks we aim to sell.”

Simon Rees, owner of FASTSIGNS Swansea added, “It’s a great cause and I’d encourage everyone to get involved and buy a duck.  Companies can also get involved by purchasing large 32 cm wide branded ducks that we print especially for them at FASTSIGNS.  The corporate ducks will have their own race – it should be quite a sight seeing these giants floating along and it’s a great way for local businesses to get involved and help their community.”

Ducks will be on sale in the town centre on Saturday 27 June, 11 and 25 July and 8 and 22 August. You can also find them at Trostre Retail Park on 4 July and the Town Centre Market on Thursday 9 and 23 July.   They will be making a guest appearance on 18 July at Tesco in Llanelli!
