Razzamataz celebrates franchisee success at the AGM

On Monday 11th February 2013, Razzamataz was delighted to host its fifth Annual General Meeting at the Crowne Plaza Birmingham NEC, hosted by Founder and Managing Director Denise Hutton-Gosney and Franchise Recruitment Manager Suzie McCafferty.

Among the guest speakers were experts in the fields of social media, employment law, press and PR, behavior management, authentic street dance and a motivational speaker.

The AGM highlighted just how far the Dragons’ Den backed business has progressed since Duncan Bannatyne became an investor in 2007. With more and more franchisees joining up every year, the part-time theatre school franchise has become a powerful force in the children’s performing arts market.

“I was very impressed with the whole event; food, set up, future projects and speakers and it has given me a boost and appreciation of how amazing the whole network is,” says Sam Bradshaw, Razzamataz franchise owner in Hampstead, London. “Full credit to the team for such a professional and fulfilling event.”

Duncan Bannatyne has also been tweeting his congratulations for the successful AGM and showed his continued support for the business by providing Razzamataz franchisees with a copy of his latest book, 37 Questions Everyone In Business Should Ask.

The highlight of the event were the Evening Awards, where franchisees who have excelled over the past year get the opportunity to take full credit for all their hard work. The Razzamataz Awards were set up to highlight outstanding schools and franchisees and to reward the individuals and students who have made an exceptional commitment to the company.

Franchisee of the Year – Charlotte Young, franchisee owner at Razzamataz Penrith and Whitehaven

Charlotte is a fabulous, pro-active Principal, who has been with us for seven years and has consistently good student numbers. She has introduced and shared some invaluable advice to our network to ensure we remain market leaders and respected within our industry.

“Becoming a Razzamataz franchisee has allowed me to combine my love of dance and the performing arts together with running my own business and watching my students grow in confidence and capabilities,” says Charlotte. “I’ve been part of this network for a number of years and it’s a joy to be part of a business that can bring something completely different to the theatre school industry. From authentic street dance classes to working with Universal Pictures to create Barbie workshops, we are growing in numbers and strength to emerge as a real leader in the performing arts arena.”

Best New Franchisee of the Year – Helen Green, franchisee owner at Razzamataz Sheffield

Helen has been relentless with all things Razzamataz, left no stone unturned when it comes to PR & Marketing, networking and pushing the boundaries. All of this, whilst producing a West End Show Case with 298 young performers with her eyes shut, and executing it with professionalism and ease.

“Producing the London show case at Her Majesty’s theatre combined with opening my own franchise in Sheffield has meant that 2012 was a very busy year,” says Helen. “My own school has exceeded all my expectations and although it has been hard work, I’ve loved running my own business and watching my students learn and develop through Razzamataz.”

One to Watch Award – Sam Bradshaw, franchisee owner at Razzamataz Hampstead

Sam has worked extremely hard to ensure his business has got off to the very best start in a hugely saturated market. He has shown he is ‘hungry’ for success, always eager to learn, think outside the box but still work in line with the Razzamataz franchise system and is never ever afraid to ask questions.

“Although I’m relatively new to the network, I’ve been delighted with the success of my school,” says Sam. “London is an incredibly competitive market in terms of theatre schools but we hit break even after just one term and are now well on the way to opening up a second school.”

Brand Ambassador Award – Hayley Limpkin, franchisee owner at Razzamataz Maidstone and Medway

If you cut Hayley in the middle she would have Razzamataz running through her! For introducing new, innovative ideas to our network and the development of the Intros 2 Juniors class, Hayley is a worthy winner for this new Award. Believing in our values and ethos and having a huge influence and contribution to how Razzamataz has grown over the last year is what sets Hayley apart.

“Being part of something that is really great with all the great opportunities that are on offer to students is what really motivates me,” says Hayley. “We have a fantastic network of other Razzamataz Principals that are so friendly and helpful and we can draw from one another’s expertise, which will ultimately help the whole of the Razzamataz network flourish.”

Razz Award for the biggest contribution 2012! – Lynn House, franchisee owner at Razzamataz Edinburgh and Sutton Coldfield

Lynn has been a key driving force behind the development and launch of the Razzamataz Future Fund. This charity has given something huge back to Razz as well as helping to create a legacy for us all to be part of and proud of.

“The Future Fund charity is an incredible opportunity for our students and shows our commitment to facilitating them to continue training after they leave Razzamataz,” says Lynn. It is a privilege to be able to give a young talented performer this opportunity and help them to fulfill their dreams.”

The Rebecca Rennie Award 2012 – Natalie James, franchisee owner at Razzamataz Paisley, Newton Mearns and Bearsden

This award is for loyalty to the brand, hard work and dedication. Natalie continually adopts a pro-active role in supporting Head Office on projects such as First Choice, spending hours in the studio producing presentations, writing our Razz Tots welcome song, always meeting deadlines and so much more!

“I’m honoured to receive this award and have loved working with Head Office on all the exciting new offerings for 2013,” says Natalie. “Razzamataz is a fast paced business and one that as a franchisee offers you many opportunities.”

In response to the success of the AGM, Razzamataz Theatre Schools are hosting two FREE PR & Marketing events for all franchisees in the network to discuss how to maximise a number of exciting initiatives planned for 2013.
