dog Levi, provided an entertaining evening in aid of the worthwhile cause.

Said Alex: “I’m grateful to all my family and friends for helping me organise such a successful event and to all those that came and contributed to this significant amount. MND is something that is close to my heart as I lost my grandmother to it in 1993.

“Since then, I’ve been touched by several other people that have also sadly lost their battle to the disease. The MND Association is important to me because it is not only funding research but it provides a support network for sufferers and their family: it’s the friends and family who have to deal with watching a loved one suffer and this is the most difficult part.”

MND is a rapidly progressive and fatal disease, which can affect any adult at any time and attacks the motor neurones that send messages from the brain to the muscles, leaving people unable to walk, talk or feed themselves.

Esther Fifield, community and events fundraiser at the MND Association, said: “Without the amazing support of people like Alex, the MND Association simply would not be able to provide the vital support services and fund research to find a cure. Together we are making a real difference for people affected by this devastating disease.”
