Exiting the business to plan

Every business owner is encouraged to formulate an exit strategy for themselves, and the master franchise supports their partners to achieve their goals. Seniors Helping Seniors invests in people development with their franchise partners.

Experienced franchisee Andy Boothman bought his Seniors Helping Seniors franchise in 2018 having built and sold a cleaning franchise the previous year.

Andy revels in the building of businesses and he reached his goal for Seniors Helping Seniors as predicted in year four.

As soon as Andy started to look for a buyer for his Seniors Helping Seniors franchise, he received interest.

Exit and sale to a partner who knew the business from the inside

As the saying goes Tim Heaney “loved the business so much, he decided to buy the company!”

Tim is a very successful person. He became a carer when a period of caregiving for a family member halted his twenty years in high-end retail management.
Tim re-trained and signed up to work for two care companies in Guildford. He worked for Seniors Helping Seniors and Home Instead.

He joined the Seniors Helping Seniors and Home Instead care teams in Guildford, gaining a deep understanding of the needs of the elderly in their own homes. He learned the workings of both companies from the carers ‘perspective.

Tim recognised the client-first approach of high-end retail in Seniors Helping Seniors and said “The approach Seniors Helping Seniors has to both carers and the service it offers to clients, stood head and shoulders above anything else I have ever seen.”

It’s an incredible accolade for the brand that a carer who worked with us, wanted to invest.

The seller of the franchise, Andy Boothman, explains how Seniors Helping Seniors is the second franchise he has owned and sold at this stage. Taking Guildford from opening to a healthy profit Andy says “I was considering the next chapter after four years, when one of the outstanding carers on my team showed interest in the business. It’s an incredible accolade for me and the brand that a carer who worked with us, wanted to invest. Tim obviously knows the operation inside out and the care team and clients are delighted with the news.”

The franchise sales process started with meeting master franchise owners in the UK, Christian and Sally Wilse.

Tim says “the team is amazing, and I was inspired by the growth potential. I have an opportunity to pool all my professional experiences, work for my own success doing something immensely worthwhile within an ambitious and fun team. The training was five star and I know which levers to pull to take the business where I want to take it.
