Welcome to October’s Smart News!

September topped off what has been an eventful summer at SmartPA. We’ve had an Olympic games, Edinburgh Festival, Referendum vote and a Ryder Cup! Well done to all our SmartPAs! October is shaping up to be another busy month, so keep an eye out for SmartPA news, updates and more.

Tell us about yourself…?
I’m married with two boys. I live in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire. Before joining SmartPA I was a civil servant with the Department of Education. I enjoy a nice glass of wine and taking part in quizzes – recently I was narrowly beaten on the BBC2 quiz ‘Two Tribes’!

What do you love most about your job?
I love the variety and the flexibility of my job. Every day is different – you never know what’s going to come your way. I also love ticking things off lists and I get to do that a lot being a SmartPA.

Who is your hero?
My all time hero is Roger Federer. He’s amazing and just keeps on going and is still producing some of the best tennis ever, despite people telling him he should retire.

What’s next?
To keep doing what I’m doing and growing my business. Also, making sure that next year is even more successful than this one.

Top business tip?
Get over yourself! The only thing stopping you from doing what you want to do is you!

SmartPA at Office 2014

We were surprised but delighted to see such a traditional sector embrace modern practices. Outsourcing, homeworking and technology already play a large role within the legal industry. In many ways they are ahead of their game, versus younger industries. SmartPA are excited to be working with a number of new clients we met there!

Scottish Referendum

The Scottish Referendum seems like a lifetime ago now. Whether a ‘yes’ or a ‘no’ voter, there is a general consensus of the success and engagement throughout the campaign.

Key figures:

• 55% voted No
• 97% electorate registration
• 84% turnout

Whilst Scotland will remain part of the UK, David Cameron has vowed to devolve more power to Holyrood. In a surprising admission he also pledges to devolve more powers throughout the UK! This vote has not only changed Scotland but the entire UK.
