SmartPA welcomes Sarah Garcia

We are excited to introduce Sarah Garcia, one of SmartPA’s newest partners. In this interview, SmartPA invite you to meet Sarah, find out why she became a partner and what advice she has for YOU…

Sarah Garcia

Welcome to the team! Tell us a bit about yourself?
I live with my partner in “sunny” Cornwall and have two sons, aged 14 and 9. I have over 20 years’ experience as an executive assistant to board directors, working mainly within the NHS. I like to travel, see new places and am hoping my new career will allow me more time to do this. I also enjoy baking, which has always made me very popular in the office!

Why did you decide to go into business?
I have always wanted to be my own boss, and after more than 20 years working for others I was looking for something new and challenging which would enable me to develop both my skills and experience in a broader range of business. I feel SmartPA can provide this opportunity for me.

What does becoming a SmartPA partner mean to you?
SmartPA will provide me with a new and exciting challenge, working in a flexible and virtual working environment – which I believe is the future direction for admin support services. I am also looking for a better work/life balance so I can see the children grow up.

As a SmartPA partner, what are you most looking forward to?
I am looking forward to meeting new people and not knowing what each day might bring. I am also looking forward to running my own business and growing something that is 100% mine.

Who is your hero?
I have always admired Richard Branson and would have loved to have been his PA! He has grown a successful brand and diversified into many areas but has always managed to remain down to earth. I aspire to be like him one day!

What advice would you give to other women considering going into business?
I would say just go for it, life is too short and you need to follow your dreams!
