Smoothie Factory International has just unveiled a new concept store in Qatar created inside two repurposed shipping containers.

The store is located in Lusail, a master planned city located in the norther part of Qatar which includes marinas, residential areas, island resorts, commercial districts, luxury shopping and leisure facilities, and man made islands.

The Smoothie Factory Lusail store opening marks the brand’s second store in the Qatar market with a third and fourth store concurrently under construction and scheduled to open this February at Education City and this April at Al Udeid Air Base. A site for a fifth location is currently being selected.

The new dine-in and walk-up location is constructed of two storage containers put together at the halfway point and is around 450 square feet. The front side allows for car parking and dine-in seating while the back side faces a public walking trail where guests can order through a service window and enjoy their products outside.

The concept has given the brand an opportunity to expand into sites that were previously too small to sustain a more traditional store and can be delivered and installed in less time than traditional stores. The shipping container store was built off-site, which reduced construction waste, and use other reclaimed materials throughout the store design.

In addition, Smoothie Factory is currently developing an efficient and streamlined food truck design to provide as an option to its master franchise partners in various international markets. Food trucks have grown in popularity in the last few years with the help of social media and with different apps. The company plans to introduce the Smoothie Factory food truck design early next year.
