From Victoria Perry at Starlight: Thank you very much for your kind support at the Starlight Summer Party on 24th July. We are so grateful to you for volunteering, donating gifts in kind and for bringing a smile to the faces of our guests.

The Party held at Belmont Children’s Farm saw us welcome and entertain over 800 guests – many more than in previous years, and we could not have done this event without the support of people like you.

As you know, the children who joined us are all battling serious and terminal illnesses and it was wonderful to be able to provide the children and their families with a day away from hospital, treatment and doctors’ appointments and enable them to enjoy a fun filled day of laughter in such a beautiful setting. For many children, this will have been their first taste of the countryside too.

It was great to have Mr Tubz at the party again this year and to see him being so well received and remembered by the children! The character brings a lot of fun and enthusiasm to the day, and we really appreciate the effort that Lewis puts into wearing the costume.

We’ve had lots of messages from guests who all tell us they had a marvellous day and I thought this message from one mum sums up the impact that the Party can have, “My son has Dravet Syndrome and some things can be a bit hit and miss, but everything at the party today was simply perfect for him.

“My daughter, who is four, loved everything as well and they had a lot of fun together, which often doesn’t happen. I honestly can’t remember when we as a family have had such a fun day. So thank you to everyone involved in making it happen, it really was an exciting start to the school holidays.”
