A Helping Hand for Leeds and Redbridge / East Ham

Home-help franchise, Extra Help, adds Leeds North and Redbridge / East Ham to its growing network.

Payal Bahi – Redbridge & East Ham

Payal is originally from the USA and is married, with three young daughters. With a background in physical therapy and public health, Payal has been passionate about community service ever since she was a teenager, working in hospitals and, later, as a physical therapist in a nursing home.

Unfortunately, when an injury put paid to her work in physical therapy, she decided to return to college and study public health. She then worked in various hospitals with mental health patients and also studied nursing home administration.

Davender made the decision to become a franchisee earlier this year, when she met up with Extra Help at the Franchise Show in London. She wanted to spend more time with her family and could see that Extra Help provided the ideal solution. So far, Payal says Extra Help has provided her with a great deal of support to get her franchise up and running.

“I’m very new to running a business but they have given me so much advice and guidance. They are a great team and such lovely, supportive ladies.”

Payal says the best thing about being involved in the home-help industry is the fact that you have a chance to help those who really need it.

“I love that my business will be easing the stresses and strains of everyday life and making people’s lives easier all round,” she says, “My aim is to combat loneliness and make people feel they aren’t forgotten, but are valued and loved.”

Davender Bahi – Leeds North

Davender Bahi, Extra Help’s new franchisee from Leeds North, is married and has two, grown-up children. With a background in teaching, she worked in various schools, her most recent position being Head Teacher at a school in Leeds.

Davender thoroughly enjoyed helping students meet their full potential and was dedicated and passionate about leading by example. However, although she enjoyed her job, she felt she needed a better work / life balance and a change in direction.

After researching various options, Davender decided to invest in an Extra Help franchise. She did consider another home-help franchise as well, but felt that Extra Help was more open and upfront.

“Extra Help’s information was realistic and they were more open about the costs involved. Some of the other franchises I looked at had hidden costs and seemed quite controlling, whereas Extra Help gives you the flexibility to run your business the way you want.

Since she attended the two-day, intensive training course that Extra Help provides to all new franchisees, Davender says they have been really supportive and responsive.

“I have all the contacts in place and have been in touch with most of them since the training,” she says, “I know I’ve asked a lot of questions but that’s because I want everything to be right!”

Once Davender has her home-helpers in place, she will start advertising her services. She is very excited about the future and looking forward to having the opportunity to give back to others.

“I am passionate about Health and Safety and safeguarding and want to ensure I makes a valuable contribution to my community,” she says, “Obviously, I need to earn an income, but it’s equally important to ensure that the local community gains as much as I do.”
