After working in the property industry for over 14 years, I found myself looking for a new opportunity.

I was beginning to fall out of love with the industry because of its outdated ways of working and felt weighed down by the costs of the high street. For a while I considered leaving the industry altogether, but eventually decided against this as I enjoy the work. I held talks with Purplebricks, YOPA, and easyProperty but none of these companies gave me the control I felt that I needed to make a success of my next venture. I came across Open House by accident, whilst helping an old colleague set up his own Open House franchise.

After my work was finished, I started to explore opening my own agency. I looked at many options including Martin & Co, Whitegates, The Good Estate Agent, EweMove, and Hunters. When comparing what was included in the franchise fees none of them came close to Open House. After a number of conversations with Alex I launched my own Open House franchise covering Hinckley & Nuneaton. It’s always slow going initially when you launch a business from scratch.

I fully launched to the public in December 2018 and as of April 2019 I have 3 properties for sale, one sold, and a total fee pipeline of £11,400 (assuming all instructions come on and sell!). I do not believe I would have been this successful with any of the above franchises due to the huge overheads that they impose. The Open House model has allowed me to offer a service comparable to any high street competitor, at a fraction of the cost (whilst still making a good profit). I would recommend them to anybody considering starting their own business.
