The origin of the La Mère Poulard restaurant concept

Our foundress, Annette Poulard (1852 – 1931), became an ambassador for the best of French cuisine: culinary delights resulting from the simplicity of combining quality ingredients with imaginative, creative cooking. For her immense talent and some seven hundred exquisite recipes she created during her long career, Annette Poulard was awarded the honorary title of “Mère” that distinguished her exceptional cooking capabilities and her contribution to the reputation of French gastronomy. Her auberge, opened in 1888, is still operational today and is the flagship restaurant of LMP.
